Job Description: Mobile Video Applications Engineer

You will join Droplet’s core technology development team, a challenging role in which you will be responsible for extending the capabilities of Droplet’s all-software video services platform on devices from all major mobile handset manufacturers, all leading mobile device operating systems and browsers, and major 3G networks worldwide.

Job Responsibilities

  • Measure, test, maintain, and extend Droplet’s mobile video handset applications, server software, and related documentation.
  • Port, integrate, and verify video applications and service packages on multiple handset models.
  • Support customers and development partners with Droplet software package releases, fundamental usage, bug tracking, and updates.
  • Contribute to ongoing video codec development by implementing new features or by porting to new device platforms.
  • Organize and maintain libraries of code, release history, documents, performance measurements.
  • Plan and operate live and recorded demos.

Skills

  • Broad general education in EE/Computer Science, 5+ years mobile industry experience, R & D or product development experience in a mobile handset vendor a key plus.
  • Strong knowledge of 2.5G and 3G mobile handset and multimedia service technologies and applications, including hardware/software architectures, design, specification
  • Programming in C and C++ on Windows, Linux, Windows Mobile, and bare-metal platforms.
  • Programming in another language such as Java, Perl or Python.
  • Real time and embedded software development on leading mobile OS platforms (Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry, Linux, BREW, Android)
  • Oriented to organization, detail, completeness, and closure, but comfortable working in fast-paced development environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, for both internal and external audiences.
  • Versatile, able to handle wide range of tasks in a startup environment.
  • Software tool agility: can seek out, recommend, acquire, and get productive with new tool chains and work flows rapidly.
  • Analysis and presentation of analysis related to test and measurement.
  • Strong awareness of evolving commercial trends in mobile multimedia devices and services.
  • High degree of skill and comfort in international business environment.
